Outing ~ Mathematics Trail @ Siggiewi

Today we went on a Maths Trail around our village – Siggiewi. We worked in small groups. We each had a clip-board. We had to estimate, count and measure different things around Siggiewi. We really enjoyed ourselves and learned that Maths is all around us!

A Maths trail:

  • encourages us to seek out the Mathematics in our environment

  • introduces us children to the wonder of Mathematics;

  • helps us to observe our village from a different viewpoint;

  • encourages us to see how Mathematics is used by man to interpret the world in which we live;

  • brings about an appreciation of the interrelationships between Mathematics and nature;

(A small note to my ‘parrots’ who had their cameras with them today … save photos on a pendrive or send them to me by email please. Thanks

Ms Claudine)
